Shopping Til They Make Me Stop
Have you ever been shopping and then had one of those embarrassing moments where suddenly your card doesn’t work?
You say, “I know I have the money for this. I don’t understand what’s happening.”
The saleslady gives you a “yeah, right” look and you call the toll free number on the back of your cars to try and figure it out.
You hope it can be quickly resolved so the shame quickly goes away. Hopefully there aren’t 30 people in line behind you, judging your money management skills.
Thanks to the rise in online shopping, you can now experience this hit to your confidence in private. I have recently been doing a ton of online shopping.
I have a million people in my wedding party and family who will be receiving gifts from us at our rehearsal dinner in 2 months. I made a lot of purchases online in a short amount of time to try and get some of those million gifts. And then suddenly– nothing.
I couldn’t do any more shopping. I went to the ATM, and it told me to call customer service. When I called, they sent me to the fraud department. I had to confirm all my purchases to prove I was me and not an identity stealer.
I appreciate them having my back, but damn that put a hitch in my plans. But I got my card unlocked, and I got back on the shopping bandwagon that day.
My bridesmaids demanded I wear a certain color to my shower, so I had to go shopping to find something new and fabulous. I was going to wear purple, but they wanted taupe (the color of my wedding dress), so I changed it up. Any reason to shop, you know?
