Quickie Politics Post: South Carolina Didn’t Disappoint

I’ve been loving this Republican primary so far. As a life-long Democrat with a penchant for logic and a hatred of cognitive dissonance, I get a sick pleasure from watching the roller coaster ride that has been the Republican presidential contest. From Michelle Bachmann winning the Iowa straw poll to Herman Cain winning the Florida straw poll, there’s always something to amuse.

These folks are crazy. Rick “I welcome dead babies” Santorum won Iowa. Mitt “I have no soul” Romney won New Hampshire. Newt “I can’t believe they’re actually voting for me, I thought it was just the voices in my head” Gingrich won South Carolina.

At this point, the only thing I know for sure is that Ron Paul is not going to win Florida.

  1. It’s not a sick pleasure. It’s knowing that for once, you are on the correct side of history. Prideful maybe, but not sick.

No wonder a couple long running soap operas have gone off the air.

    • I miss the long running soap operas! I grew up on All My Children. But you’re right that they didn’t have staying power as of late, and this nomination drama doesn’t either. It will probably all be settled by Super Tuesday.

Also, I get why folks were so enthralled in 2008 with Hillary and Barack.

  2. Now I’m thanking God and praying for more people like Hill and Barack. We need more people like that.

    • We do, but not right now. Only so many people can be Secretary of State and President at once, ha ha. Having some more people like that in about 5 years would be great though!
